BUZZZZZZZ light year
Buzz Aldrin came to Shippensburg tonight to speak about: "The Apollo Dream"
I think that he was advocating the privatization of space exploration. He talked about private sectors supporting space tourism with reusable shuttles and lottery systems to allow normal citizens a chance to go into space.
I personally think all space exploration should be handed off into the private sector, not only because it would speed the rate of space travel advancements, but also stop federal funding of NASA that I am paying taxes for. It's not that I don't like shelling out dollars for the advancement of science, because I do recognize that NASA has made the US a powerful country and it also has been the vanguard in other scientific endeavors. On the whole and whole I think that too much money is being drained into a program that isn't showing us any results. For goodness sakes, it's been 3 years since the last mission, 2 have failed within the past 30 years, and they still hope to Mars even with such a bad recent track record.
Emily made a good point while we were listening to Dr. Buzz, how many times has he had to tell that story? Does he ever get sick of "and then I stepped onto the moon..."
Note: I did point out to her that he gets buckets full of money to tell that story over and over again, so you can't really feel bad for the guy.

Green things
I wasn't lying when I said I was obsessed with these green things. I just haven't figured out what they are yet.

Photos Crazy
I was driving home for classes on Friday and I was blew away by the beauty of the sky. I said. Hmmmmm, I should get my camera. So I went home, changed into a sweatshirt, grabbed my camera and decided to go for a drive. I stopped at this little place off a less busier road than my own and started walking toward this little abandoned shack and wooden buildings that said photograph of year all over them. But then I saw the sign: No Tresspassing. Darn. I got back in my car and scoped out a new place to take photos, somewhere where no one would come after me with a hunting dog and rifle.
My question is what on earth are these things? They were everywhere. I was fascinated by them. I photographed about 40 pictures of them. I love their texture, and color, and shape. I loved them so much and the curiosity was so great that took one, put it on a stone and then I jumped on it. They are much tougher than you may think. I wanted to see what was on the inside. A bunch of sticky stuff came out and green stringying things. These are definitely my new fascination.

Fall Photos
Cool spider web outside my house; taken last week, before the freezing temperatures sent him scrawling, or at best dying.
And then the one sad lonely pink rose in our second rate garden, if it can even be called that (as in a place where plants live).

Of Mice and Men
The classical Steinbeck. He is one of my favorite authors. I attended a book discussion on Of Mice and Men last Thursday. We had a lively discussion about each of the characters and the ethical implications of the novel. I still say that George turned bad and killed Lennie not out of necessity but out of selfishness. He was sick of the cycle. He had finally made friends. Lennie never did anything bad out of malicious intent. He had a child-like innocence. The death of curley's wife was no different than him accidently killing the little mice and puppy. If Lennie hadn't been so focused in on how George wouldn't let him take care of the rabbits, then he wouldn't have panicked and done bad things in the first place. George's sins seems to get everyone in trouble. Why was Lennie the one who had to pay for them?

Phone Call
Stupid thing I did today?
I called my sister but she didn't answer so I left a message that she should call me back. Half an hour later the phones rings and my dad tells me it is for me. I go running for the phone but I am yelling, NOOOOO WHY DID SHE CALL ME NOW. I WAS WATCHING GREY'S ANATOMY. *prolonged* NOOOOOOOO. Then I pick up the phone and am like "hello."
It wasn't my sister. It was a lady from church. I know she could hear me. I felt stupid.

iPod Spoofs
Sorry, my mouse hasn't been working. But on the bright side, I've gotten really good at the stone age keyboard commands. Buy anyways,
Think iPod is clever? So are the spoofs.
And, my personal favorite:
