Acclimation
Orientation, orientation, orientation.
That is all I have been doing and will be doing this week. Teaching requirements, teaching tips, teaching liabilities, teaching pedagogy, teaching fears, teaching problems; teaching, teaching, teaching.
BUT, at the same time student concerns, student requirements, student adjustment, student needs, student life, student welcome.
How does one perfect the fine art of both being a teacher and a student at the same time? That seems to be the million dollar question of the week.
i am so glad you are having a nice time!!! when can i come visit?

isn't it interesting that you have to be a teacher and a student. there is to be this line between teacher and student and you are totally crossing all over it.
ReplyDeletethe big question will be this:
ReplyDeletewhich is more okay to do...date your student or date your prof?
f.y.i....go with the student...or at least make sure the prof isn't married....well, better make sure the student isn't married either!
You can visit me anytime!! Prob. a weekend would be best. Oh goody!
ReplyDeleteThey keep telling us that the power dynamic switching between the two roles will mess with our heads.
Hahaha. Actually, we had to take a sexual harassment seminar, and I'm pretty sure it's against the rules (the university's and the ethical ones) to date a student or a prof. You'd think there would be a nice guy in DC that is neither my prof nor student...but so far the ones I've met seem "emotionally needy". Goodness, that's the last I need.
